Nokia 5730 XpressMusic and Nokia 5730 XpressMusic Specifications

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is a multimedia and music-dedicated sliding smartphone announced in March and released in June 2009. Its features include a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, dedicated camera, volume, gaming and music keys as well as Wi-Fi/801.2b-g/Wireless LAN connectivity and a basic accelerometer which acts as a tiltmeter to autorotate the display (in landscape or portrait mode). The 5730 is similar to the Nokia 5800, which is a touchscreen version with similar features and pricing. It runs on the Nokia's Symbian OS v9.3 S60 mobile phone platform.

The screen is a 2.4" TFT (measured diagonally ) with a 240 by 320 pixel QVGA resolution. A 3.5mm jack allows regular earphones and headphones to be used, and the phone is avaliable in a pink, red, blue or silver trim. An Ovi web application is also pre-installed, which is Nokia's online services platform, featuring games, music, videos, phone apps, media sharing and social networking.

Like many phones in its price range, it also includes a 3.15 megapixel camera (with Carl-Zeiss optics, LED flash and 30fps VGA recording) and A-GPS (with an integrated virtual compass to enable the map to autorotate to point north). The N-Gage interface is also assimilated, allowing users to try, purchase and play 3-D N-Gage games (which can be downloaded through the application). It is also fully 3.5G/HSDPA compatible, enabling up to 3.6 MB/s wireless 3G internet and email access through WAP services as well as video calling and voicemail. Uniquely, when connected to a computer, it can act as a wireless broadband modem through an available 3G/3.5G/HSDPA network.

The device can also produce, read, and to a limited extent, edit files (only in an editor's version) from Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. PDF files can also be viewed via the pre-installed Adobe Reader LE 1.5.0 application. An 8GB microSDHC card is also included inside the phone (in addition to an internal 100MB user storage and 128MB RAM).
